About Radio Madhuban

Radio Madhuban 90.4 FM is a Community Radio Station licensed under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India operational in Abu Road, Rajasthan, India since 2011. Radio Madhuban works for the development and upliftment of local community by informing, educating, enlightening and awakening the masses. India’s first value-based community radio station, the station promotes living values and moral development in all spheres of life. With special focus on areas like education, sustainable development, women and youth empowerment, health & hygiene and organic farming, Radio Madhuban provides value-based education and infotainment 24x7. With a variety of on-air shows and thematic village-outreach programs, Radio Madhuban has been successful in building strong bonds with the local community.

Our Community

The administrative division of Abu Road comprises of 82 villages scattered in a vast area. The population largely consists of tribal families. Marked by extreme poverty, illiteracy and unemployment, a majority of the workers are agricultural laborers, farmers or engaged in marginal activities that provide livelihood for less than 6 months. Radio Madhuban has a listenership of over 1 Lakh people.

Radio Madhuban 90.4 FM celebrated its 3rd anniversary on the 19th January, 2014 with joy and splendor in the Conference Hall, Shantivan Complex of the Brahma Kumaris in Abu Road.

Radio Madhuban started its journey in 2011 with a small recording studio and meek facilities. Since then, the station has grown and a lot of local people from the community have joined as volunteers to help in achieving our aim of social development and community upliftment.

 

 As a community radio station licensed under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India, Radio Madhuban is proud to serve the local society with dedicated and earnest efforts. Radio Madhuban is thankful to the kind support of the ministry from time to time in developing our infrastructure and helping us reach our objectives.

 In these three years, Radio Madhuban has not only become a name in almost every household but has also gathered support of the community to bring about a positive social change. Its presence has now merged with the local life and it is very close to becoming a radio station of the community, by the community and for the community. The 3rd anniversary celebrations were an accolade to all the community people who have made this progress possible with their sheer commitment and charging enthusiasm.

Team Radio Madhuban was most fortunate to have Mr V. Eswaraiah, Chairman, National Commission for Backward Classes as the Chief Guest for the ceremony. The guest of honour, Ms Kavita Seth, Bollywood playback and Sufi singer, also graced the occasion with her presence. It was a privilege to have Mr. Raghuveer Singh Meena, Collector, Sirohi, Mr. Jitendra Soni, SDM, Mt. Abu and Mr. Bhupal Soni, Tehsildar, Abu Road, Mr. Pularam, Jilla Pariyojna Adhikari, KVK, Sirohi along with BK Karuna, Director, Radio Madhuban and BK Ramesh Shah, Secretary, RMCS for the celebrations.

To mark the anniversary celebrations, Radio Madhuban organized a declamation competition for students of Abu on different topics related to Drug De Addiction, Environment & Waste Management. The students were divided into two groups; juniors from class 6th to 10th and seniors from class 11th to undergraduates. Varsha Kumari of Rajkiya Prathamik Vidyalay, Danvav won the first prize in the junior category while Narayan Lal of Rajkiya Uch Madhyamik Janjati Awasiy Vidyalay, Talehti bagged the second prize. In the senior category, Santoshi Banjara of Global School of Nursing won the first prize and Saurabh Agrwal of Rajkiya Uch Madhyamik Darbar School, Abu Road stood second.  Mr. Jitendra Soni, SDM and Mr. Bhupal Soni, Tehsildar, Abu Road gave away the awards to all the winners.

Over fifteen hundred people from the community enjoyed the colourful and splendid celebrations and shared the joy of completing three years.  The venue was beautifully decorated and the RJs of Radio Madhuban took everyone present on a joyful ride, capturing the attention of the audience throughout the six hour long celebrations.

 The ceremony was a chance for all the people to meet and see for real the RJs, who they otherwise only listen to on the radio. It was also a chance for the entire Radio Madhuban family to share the happiness of completing three years of community service together. The function was also marked with enthralling performances from the community. 

The music and dance performance of students of Dusra Dashak, Pindwara, who performed for the first time on such a stage, had audience amazed. A group of five students were singing a tribal song in a local language and ten students were dancing to their tunes while their class teacher played Dholak to add the beats and rhythm. Radio Madhuban provides them a platform to showcase their talent and has been in regular contact with them for a long time now.

Students from Rajkiya Ucha Prathmik Vidyala, Arbuda also captivated the audience with several performances. Ten students from elementary classes graced the stage with their dance performance. It was so mesmerizing to see small kids dancing together in sync. Another group of eight students from the senior classes presented a scintillating dance performance on a local song. Finally, two students, form the same school, dazzled the hall with their dance performance. All the groups had students from tribal and other local families. Radio Madhuban feels proud to provide the marginalised sections of the society a chance to come forward and progress.

Next, a group of eight students of Rajkiya Prathmik Vidyalaya, Goliyafali entertained everyone with their dance performance on a local Marwari song. They come from a tribal caste of ‘Rabari’ and it was their first performance on stage. Radio Madhuban has been inviting them with regular opportunities to visit the radio station and showcase their skills.

Students from Govt. Senior Secondary Darbar School, USB College, St. Johns School, Abu Road and St. Pauls School, Sirohi also presented several dance and musical performance. Radio Madhuban had invited special guest artists from China who sparkled the ambiance with their mesmerising Chinese dance and Mongolian song performance. All the people present just loved the cultural shows. Furthering Radio Madhuban’s efforts to present value-based entertainment to people, Ms Veena from Mumbai did a puppet show to sensitize people about corruption.

This year, Radio Madhuban 90.4 FM also started a new tradition by launching the “Ashta Ratan Awards” for social development. The awards recognize the contribution of the individuals and organizations towards community upliftment . Mr. V. Eswaraiah, the Chief Guest for the occasion and Mr. Mahendra Singh Meena, Collector, Sirohi felicitated the winners.

This year, there were four individual winners and organizations who were awarded the Ashta Ratan awards. Jan Chetna Sansthan was awarded for their efforts for development of the tribal community and women empowerment in Abu Road. Richa Sharma, Director, Jan Chetna Sansthan received the award. Mr. Om Prakash Mondana received the award on behalf of Dusra Dashak, Pindwara for the organization’s contribution to children development. Azim Prem Ji Foundation was awarded for its work in the field of education. Their trainer and resource person for Abu Road, Mr Atish Vyas received the award for the organization. In the category of agriculture and farming, Pradan’s efforts were appreciated and their Head for Abu Road activities, Mr Vijay, received the award.

In the individual category, Chintu Yadav, a young and brave student, was awarded for youth leadership. Harish Panchal, an electronics technician who also played a major role in banning plastic bags in Mt Abu, was awarded for his contribution to environment. A teacher from Jhadoli, Mr Rajendr Kumar Rathod, has been funding the education of eight girl students who could otherwise not afford their schooling for the past two years. He was awarded for his contribution to education. Mr. Mahendr Morbia, RIICO Colony, Abu Road was awarded for saving the wildlife.  

Apart from this, Radio Madhuban also recognized the contribution of all the local schools and other organizations that have helped in different capacities all throughout the year. Radio Madhuban presented them with a Letter of Appreciation by the SDM, Mr Jitender Soni for their cooperation and support.
